Prototypes
I'll be posting information regarding my new ceramic guitar slide and bar prototypes on this page. Be sure to check back and find out what is in the works and what may be available in the future. If you see something that is of interest to you, please let me know so I can keep you advised.

Guitar Slides in different colors
I have had many requests for slides with different colors and have been experimenting with countless glaze options. The main challenge is to create the color without upsetting the finish surface of the slide. There are a number of ceramic slide makers out there who do not have a slide finish as smooth and scratch-free as mine. So naturally, I want to maintain that feature. The addition of oxides and stains into a cone 10-11 glaze, changes the glaze architechture and hence, the finish. At these temperatures (2460 degrees) there is no room for error like there is in porcelain or other ceramic slide materials, which are fired at lower temperatures.
The slides pictured above are new prototypes... in color! The glaze surface remains just as smooth and durable as the glazes I currently use. I couold be onto something here! The process requires additional time and labor but seems to be worth it! The guitar slides look beautiful, don't you think?

Hand-Painted Slides
Have I had a ton of requests for pictures on slides? All guitar slide makers who have images or printing on their slides accomplish this by firing at very low temperatures to aviod ruining the decal which holds the image. While the image can be virtually anything from flags, to pin-up girls, to skulls, etc., the problem is that the decal will scratch from contacting the strings. And the scratch will become un-wanted noise. Paloma Stone Slides don't like to make noise, we like to be as hard and smooth as possible... I don't do decals.
But recently, I have discovered that I can put an image on the slide and not disturb the glaze surface... at least, very negligibly. My goal now it to have the finish be the same as current specs. Again, extra time and labor to make these. Opens up a whole new world for a player who wants something unique and highly functional!
